Mr. and Mrs. Kilmartin

I want to give a big thank you to both Mr. and Mrs. Kilmartin. Mr. Kilmartin, our districts Reading Specialist has been instrumental in adding new ideas to our Language Arts and Reading programs. The students in our school, and our teachers are very fortunate to have him. Also, to Mrs. Kilmartin who took time out of her busy schedule to give a seminar about blogging that even I could understand (my students are patient with my computer skills). She was also nice enough to add pictures of a couple of book covers from my faves list to our blogspot site. Thanks a lot you guys!

Alabama Moon

All of my classes are currently reading Alabama Moon by Watt Key. If you didn't notice it is one of my faves....Two classes have almost finished and 8-3 has finished (don't give away the ending). I want you to write about your favorite character from the book. Tell us about the character you chose and add the traits you like best about them. You could even include a part of the story they were in that you liked best.

I created my Fave Five list on the right margin of the blogspot. I want you to think about the books that you would consider your favorites. You can even think all the way back to books you read when you were in the lower grades. Create a list, as long as you want, with your favorite books and include the authors if you can remember. Have fun listing!

"Free read" book

Think of the book you are currently reading (or one you've recently finished). Give a written 'book talk' about the interesting scenarios that take place. Try to persuade your peers to want to read your book. Remember our rules......don't give away the endings. You can post under your name or an alias you have created.
